Some Playstation ramblings

Just recently, the PlayStation 1 celebrated it's 15th anniversary, and a couple sites of course are reminiscing about their experiences. One site even goes as far to have their editors name their favorite button. Yeah. You heard that right. Anyway, I had joined the PlayStation party late, as I bought my PlayStation in 2000. I think it's an alright system, yeah, it's got CD based games so you can fit more on it, and it's got more games, yadda yadda yadda. But to me, Sony games, and the PlayStation brand as a whole, have no "soul". Granted, it has some really top notch software, but to me, it is not "Old-school." I was a big Nintendo fan growing up, and I actually bought the Dreamcast before the PlayStation. I just find all these "tributes" to the PSone a little "meh". Oh, and by the way, the Dreamcast came out on the same day the PlayStation did, they had better have a 15th anniversary something-or-other for that. And that's my thoughts on the PSone. I guess I'll go play some Final Fantasy VII or something. Game on.

This is freakin sweet!!!

The other day one of my friends messaged me if I wanted a iPod Touch. They are usually $200 and up. I said OK, he showed me a link to the Apple Store. Sure enough, they were on sale for $149.00. Not bad. (At the time of this post, they are still $149.00.) Of course, it was the Refurbished 8 GB model, but it was good enough for me. After a long (and seemingly agonizing wait) I got it Thursday June 3rd. And wow, is it awesome. Highly recommended purchase.

A New Challenger!!!

This past week, I learned of a new video game store opened up in my little burg of South St Paul. It's called Level Up Games, and I really like it. They had a grand opening sale this past week, and I got the above games there, at reduced price. To me, the game in the middle, Bangai-O was a steal, considering it's on Amazon from 40-100 dollars, not including shipping!!! I plan on giving them my business whenever I can.

SEGA!

I was cleaning up my room a little bit, and I decided to hook up my Sega Saturn to my Entertainment Center (as if I didn't have a lot of consoles hooked up in the first place, but I digress) so I cleaned out another spot, and VOILA! Another Sega Console joins my wall of awesomeness! Game on!!

An old friend returns

Sorry I haven't posted in a bit, I got laid off from my job, but I digress. Yesterday I downloaded Mega Man 10 for Wii. Wow. 10. That, in my opinion, is mind blowing. Anyway, I have finished only one Robot Master so far (Sheep Man), but I look forward to playing more. It's a tough game, but I'm a big fan of the Blue Bomber, and I had some Wii Points floating around, so it was a no-brainer for me. But I am happy with the end result. A friend of mine is complaining that it should have been graphically improved, but I beg to differ. I've played Mega Man 7 (SNES) and Mega Man 8 (PS1/Saturn) and although they were decent entries in the franchise, I was unimpressed. I didn't care for the on-rails snowboarding in Frost Man's level (WTF?), and Mega Man 7....ugh. I think 8-bit style fits it just fine. I will try to update more often, sorry for the long wait, and be sure to check out my new game review show, Power Up! It's on YouTube and my Facebook profile, be sure to check it out =)
